Founded in 1913 as the ‘Balika Samajam’ at Sreevaraham, Trivandrum , with a focus on enriching the cultural lives of young women, in 1954 the organization evolved into the ‘Sreevaraham Vanitha Samithy’, a charitable organization working totally on no profit - no loss basis expanding its mission to encompass the holistic progress of women and children . It was registered in 1957 under the Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies act of 1955 as no :14 of 1957. SVS has been nourished to the present stature by Smt. Ponnamma Thanu Pillai, wife of Sri. Pattom Thanu Pillai, former Chief Minister of Kerala and former Governor of Punjab and Andhra Pradesh:

Sreevaraham Vanitha Samithy is dedicated to charitable activities encompassing education, health, culture, and awareness, executed through socio-economic programs aimed at empowering women. Among its educational endeavors, the Samithi operates a Pre-primary & Primary English Medium CBSE School, Smt Ponnamma Thanu Pillai memorial school catering to the educational needs of the underprivileged. Every year more than 10% of the students receive the invaluable gift of free education, embodying the Samithy's commitment to inclusive growth and social progress.
