Smt Ponnamma Thanu Pillai, wife of Shri Pattom Thanu Pillai (former Chief Minister of Kerala) was a dedicated social worker who left behind a rich legacy of selfless service. She had been a Member of the State Social Welfare Board of Travancore Cochin. She pioneered the Bala Vihar in 1913 and was the moving spirit behind its progress to the Sreevaraham Vanitha Samithi in 1954. Her passions and hard work nurtured the organisation to its present statu.
Smt Leela Pattom Krishna Pillai , eldest daughter of Smt Ponnamma ThanuPillai was actively involved in the activities of the Samithi since its inception. She remained an active Life Member till her death in 2008.
Smt Saraswathy Nayar , youngest daughter of Smt Ponnamma ThanuPillai, also a Life Member, was President from 5.5.2015 to 28.9.2015 and again from 27.9. 2019 to 28.9.2022. She resides in PTP Nagar , Thiruvananthapuram and continues to take active interest in the growth of the organisation.
The Sreevaraham Vanitha Samithi has a rich legacy of eminent women leaders dedicated to social service. It was founded by Ponnamma Thanu Pillai, who served as the first President. She was succeeded by Smt. Sumathikutty Amma.
